WhatsApp templates
Write to a customer outside the 24-hour window with a message Meta approved in advance.
Send an approved template to write to a customer outside the 24-hour window: WhatsApp lets nothing else out. Manage them in the channel's Templates tab. See Messaging windows for when that window opens and closes.
Categories
Pick the category that matches what you are about to send: it decides what Meta charges you.
| Category | What for | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Utility | Confirmations, order updates, reminders. | Free inside the window, billed outside |
| Authentication | Verification codes. | Free inside the window, billed outside |
| Marketing | Promotions and news. | Always charged |
States
Meta reviews every template and gives it one of these states:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Approved | You can send it |
| Pending | Meta is still reviewing it |
| Rejected | Meta refused it; fix it or appeal |
| In appeal | The rejection is appealed and waiting |
| Paused | Meta paused it over its delivery quality |
| Deleted | It no longer exists at Meta |
Filter by status and category, and search by name. Only approved ones can be sent.
Variables
Fill in a template's slots on send: the customer's name, an order number. Wrap asks you for the values and previews the result.
Languages
Pick the language on send: a template can carry several variants under one name.
If you delete a template, Meta deletes every language variant, and that cannot be undone.
The WABA is required
Set the channel's WhatsApp Business Account ID on its Advanced tab to manage templates from Wrap.
Where they are used
Use a template in three places:
- In the composer, when the window is closed.
- When writing to a customer first.
- In a broadcast, which you can only build on an approved template.
