Who sees a conversation
Share a conversation with whoever needs it, and understand why one reaches you or does not.
Wrap decides conversation by conversation who sees it. Read the ladder top to bottom: the first rule that matches wins.
- Are you a Wrap admin? You see everything in the workspace.
- Is it assigned to you? You see and can reply to that one, even if you cannot see the channel. This is what makes triage work.
- Do you own the channel? You see all of your channel, always.
- Was it shared with you? You see that one, at the level you were granted.
- If none apply, the channel's mode decides, unless that conversation carries a visibility of its own.
The three channel modes
Set each channel's mode in Settings → Channels, by how far you want its conversations to travel.
| Mode | Who sees |
|---|---|
| Whole workspace | Anyone with access to Wrap. |
| Selected members | Only the channel's member list. |
| Admins only | Nobody else. Admins triage and assign. |
"Admins only" is a mode, not a list of people. Adding members to a channel in that mode grants them no sight, only a place in the rotation.
If you do not see Settings → Channels, ask a Wrap admin to change the mode.
Sharing a conversation
Open Participants in the conversation header and grant access to a named person, at one of three levels:
- Read: they see it, they do not write.
- Reply: they see it and answer.
- Manage: they can also change its visibility and share it on.
Change the visibility of that one conversation too, without touching the channel. There is one rule: you can only open up, never close down.
A selected-members channel can hold a conversation opened to admins only or to the whole workspace: both directions widen the audience. A workspace-wide channel cannot hold a conversation closed to admins or to a member list, and Wrap refuses it.
Leave a conversation on Inherit from channel and it follows the channel: change the channel's mode later and that conversation changes with it.
If you cannot see Participants, ask a Wrap admin to share the conversation with you.
Two cases that beat everything above
A deleted channel closes its conversations to everybody, admins included, for the whole retention window. This rule beats every other one.
An excluded conversation leaves the normal inbox for everyone. If you are an admin, open it from the Excluded tab.
Archiving changes no permission: it is inbox hygiene. An archived conversation follows exactly the same visibility rules, and you look for it in another tab.
Groups
Put Nest groups in a channel's audience and in its rotation, and say "Support sees this channel" once instead of maintaining six names.
If you delete the group in Nest, the channel keeps showing it as a removed group rather than silently dropping the grant.
The record
Open the Activity tab of that same panel to see who changed an assignment, a visibility or a shared grant, and when.
